Item Description
Pretty light red, glassy, translucent, sharp, tabular Chabazite variety Phacolite crystals richly line an impressive, sculptural 7.0 cm vug in the large vesicular basalt matrix. The crystals reach 8 mm. Phacolite is the lens-shaped variety of chabazite due to twinning/multiple twinning of rhombohedrons (MINDAT). Ex Kurt Hefendehl Collection. Specimens of this quality and richness are RARE from the locale, for which we see other samples on MINDAT. It is a beautiful thing in a showcase, with such a strange combination of shape and color that it takes awhile to figure out what it is!
