Item Description
Mineral specimens are rare from this abandoned (since 1974) granite quarry (MINDAT) and rich chabazite specimens, such as this very fine piece, are EXTREMELY RARE. Rich burnt orange, lustrous, translucent pseudorhombohedral crystals, to 6 mm, cover the undulating granite matrix on this exceptional piece. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 4493 and acquired from Al McGuinness in the mid-1960s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). A colorful, rare and rich example from the locale.
