Item Description
The well-known large skarn iron ore deposits at Rudny have produced wold-class golden-yellow twinned calcite specimens, but have also produced outstanding and rare Zeolite Group specimens. This sculptural rich small cabinet plate is covered with sharp, lustrous salmon-pink triclinic Chabzite prisms, to 7 mm, on edge. The former dealer label says Gmelinite, another zeolite, but that species has hexagonal crystals. Both Chabazite and Gmelinite are RARE from the Sarbai mine and this is a very fine and rich example from the Ted Bartels Collection. This may actually be from the nearby Sokolovskoe Iron Mine.
