Item Description
Sitting atop a layer of Analcime, these rhombohedral crystals of Chabazite are quintessential examples of this well-known zeolite mineral. Ranging up to 8 mm on edge, the gemmy to translucent white crystals are razor sharp and have an excellent, vitreous luster. Many of the rhombs are interpenetrating, which adds in the interest both mineralogically and visually. This quality cabinet specimen was collected out of the hard, grey Tertiary lava flows on the Isle of Skye by Michael Wood in 1997. Recently deaccessed from the Tim Sherburn collection.Tim specialized in trading, collecting, and buying Scottish minerals and travelled there himself for acquisition.
