Item Description
An UNCOMMON and showy zeolite specimen from Oahua, Hawaii! A 4.0 cm, well-placed, sloping vug in basalt is filled with pearlescent chabazite crystals and is highlighted by a 6 mm, colorless, calcite rhomb. The outer rim of the vug is lined with green epidote. One usually does not think of the Hawaiian Islands of having well-crystallized specimens, but here is one. The base and back has been sawed to enhance the display quality. Illustrated in the Lapidary Journal April 1986 article on post-volcanic mineral despotis in Hawaii: Kailue Crystals by Tim Hicks.
