Chabazite

Item Description

This piece is listed as coming from the Sichuan Province in China, but I can't find a locality where any Chabazite species has been reported in any database online, so we're simply leaving it as coming from China for now. The piece features attractive, sharp, pseudo-rhombic brownish-orange colored crystals of Chabazite measuring up to 3 mm, on a matrix that is coated by what appears to be pistachio green colored Epidote. The piece is in good shape, with no major damage that I can find. Chinese Chabazites are quite rare on the market, and this is an interesting and unusual locality specimen that would make a great addition to any suite of worldwide Zeolites or minerals from China. From the collection of Kurt Hefendehl (#666 C), a well-known German collector all over Europe with worldwide contacts to dealers and collectors. He started collecting seriously at the age of 14 and his great and varied worldwide collection reached over 6000 pieces. He was very active mineralogically until shortly before his passing in 2020 at the age of 82. Considering his collection had a large number of pieces, it still had an unusually high standard of quality from most worldwide localities. He particularly specialized in all classics as well as minerals of the Black Forest, where he spent much time collecting. His Black Forest and German subcollections went to his good friend Wolfgang Wendel.
