Item Description

Here we have an uncommon specimen of Cervantite pseudomorphing after Stibnite from the Fortuna Mine in the appropriately named El Antimonio part of the Caborca Municipality in Sonora, Mexico. The prismatic crystals of what were once Stibnite have been replaced by yellow to white colored Cervantite on all sides, but minor spots of grey Stibnite are still visible. Additionally there are tiny blue-grey areas of the very rare magnesium antimony oxide Byströmite, for which the Fortuna Mine is the type locality. It's virtually impossible to find specimens from this locality on the market, so don't pass this one up, especially if you're a fan of pseudomorphs or minerals from Mexico.
