Cerussite with Malachite and Calcite (classic material)

Item Description

One larger and one smaller Cerussite twin comprise most of this small cabinet piece from Tsumeb. Both twins are translucent with an adamantine to silky luster. The large twin is robust with one component measuring 5 cm and the other 3 cm in length and they are striated resulting in their silky luster. The other twin is a more typical cyclic twin and is 3 cm from one end to the other. Knots of drusy, scintillating Calcite cover tabular septae of matrix on which the Cerussite crystals have grown. Rosettes of green, finely crystalline Malachite to 1 cm are set upon the back of the larger Cerussite and the Calcite druse in between the two twins. A hefty and interesting Tsumeb piece with good color contrast.
