Cerussite with doubly-terminated Mimetite

Some of the finest crystallized Cerussite specimens in the history of mineral collecting were found at the world-famous Tsumeb Mine. The quality and beautiful crystallization puts them in the highest ranks for the species. This piece is a fantastic association specimen featuring sharp, lustrous, gemmy, smoky/colorless, twinned crystals of Cerussite on matrix, but the real highlight is a wonderful doubly-terminated, lustrous, prismatic, hexagonal pastel yellow color Mimetite crystal flaring off the other end! The largest individual Cerussite measures 4.0 cm, and the Mimetite measures 1.6 cm. While these two species are well-known from Tsumeb, it's not easy to find an association piece like this, especially with such a fantastic Mimetite crystal aesthetically sitting on one end. The Cerussites are a bit rough in spots, but the Mimetite crystal is undamaged as far as I can see. A great piece for any fan of secondary ore minerals, lead minerals, or specimens from Tsumeb, regarded by many as the greatest mineral locality in the world. From the collection of Brian Kosnar.
