Cerussite with Chalcotrichite ex Ed David

Among the rarest of Tsumeb combinations are these gorgeous, blood-red Chalcotrichite-included Cerussites. The rich color and waxy luster really make this piece stand out, and a bit of associated Malachite adds color contrast and mineral interest. I am told that they were only found twice in the mine, for the last time during the early 1970s. This is one of the finest thumbnail-sized examples I have seen amidst handling a number of major Tsumeb and thumbnail collections over the years. There is nothing like this from any other occurrence on the planet, and these remain a uniquely Tsumeb combination, treasured by the Tsumeb collectors and general collectors alike. Previously in the collections of Dr. Ed David and Alex Mann, who reportedly purchased this from Ed in 1982 for the then incredible sum of $4,200. See attached letters from the prior owner (Alex Mann) who sold it to George Elling in a large group of his collection. These are priceless. You cannot find a good one, and THIS is a good one.
