Cerussite w/Chryscolla (RARE Idaho)

Item Description

The obscure extinct Pb-Zn-Cu Monarch Mine, about 18 miles northeast from the famous Bunker Hill Mine has produced some the finest U.S. cerussite specimens, but no pyromorphite. Sharp, lustrous, glassy cyclically-twinned cerussite crystals, to 1.3 cm, are richly and aesthetically embedded in the lightweight granular gossan matrix. The top of the piece hosts a few blebs of VERY RARE for the locale chrysocolla. The three labels with this piece say Murray or Murray District, a precious metal, sulfide producing district and near the famous Coeur d'Alene District of Shoshone County. MINDAT does not list cerussite from the Murray District. The Monarch Mine is five miles south east of Murray. VERY RARE and seldom available combination material from this locale.
