Item Description
Here we have a lovely example of the famous Chrome-Cerussite specimens from the famous historic Magnet Mine in Tasmania, which dates back to 1877. This piece features very attractive reticulated "flower"-like crystals of chrome-bearing Cerussite measuring up to 5 mm sitting on oxidized matrix. Obviously the yellow color is due to the chromium content, and it's a very distinctive hue for the species. The crystals themselves are very attractive up close, but please keep in mind that some of them are broken. You don't see these on the market anymore, as they were mined over 50 years ago. From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds. Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
