Item Description

Touissit is one of the great world localities for secondary ore minerals, producing some of the finest Azurites, Anglesites and Cerussites ever found. This piece is an attractive and unusual twin of Cerussite featuring one predominant, sharp, well-formed, lustrous, translucent, smoky-golden colored crystal with a couple of much smaller crystals of equal quality flaring out, creating a highly unbalanced "V"-twin, free of matrix. The specimen is in great shape all around, as the top / upper portion is undamaged as far as I can see with the naked eye, and it's even partially crystallized on the bottom, so it's largely crystallized on all sides. Typically the "V"-twins from Touissit are very well-balanced, so to find a piece where one half of the twin is so much larger than the other side is certainly unusual. If you're a fan of Cerussites, Moroccan minerals or attractive twins, don't miss out on this beautiful and fine quality example. I value this one at $2,500 for size, quality and uniqueness. The piece was mined circa late 1970s - early 1980s, and is from the collection of Richard ("Rich") A. Kosnar (1946-2007), the well-known mineral dealer and collector from Colorado, who was the namesake for the rare zirconium phosphate mineral, Kosnarite.
