Item Description
When people think about the Bunker Hill Mine, they instantly think about the finest Pyromorphite specimens from the Western Hemisphere. This famous lead-zinc-silver mine operated for a century (closing forever in 1988), and fine quality specimens are difficult to obtain, especially 30 years after it came out of the ground. In addition to the Pyromorphites, this mine sporadically produced some attractive Cerussites. This is a rarely seen Cerussite specimen featuring sharp, well-formed, very lustrous, gemmy to translucent, off-white colored crystals on oxidized matrix. Some of the crystals show "snowflake"-shaped / reticulated twins. There is a bit of roughness, but it's still very well-crystallized and incredibly lustrous. Classic material from Idaho, you don't see it around anymore. From the worldwide collection of noted Idaho collector Geary Murdock. Among other accomplishments, Geary was responsible for discovering some of the finest gem grade deep blue Aquamarine crystals in the Sawtooth Mountains of Idaho - which remain arguably the finest Aquamarines from any North American locality. https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/36634006/geary-jack-murdock
