Cerussite (twins) on Azurite (RARE locality specimen)

Item Description

A very rarely seen combo from the Yanga Koubenza Quarries in the Mfouati District on Republic of the Congo featuring dozens of sharp, well-formed, lustrous, beautiful reticulated "snowflake"-shaped twinned crystals of Cerussite measuring up to about 5 mm across, which are sitting on fine quality, rich midnight blue colored, highly lustrous, slightly gemmy crystals of Azurite with accenting Malachite around the peripheral edges. The Cerussite are gorgeous up close, and we've provided some micro photos to help illustrate their beauty. This area has been known as a secondary zinc/lead/copper deposit since the 1940s, but real specimen recovery only started taking place circa 2016. While Cerussite is known from this area, full-sized cabinet display specimens like this are few and far between. We picked this up in Tucson and were told that nothing has come out for several years, so there might not be more of them in the foreseeable future.
