Cerussite (twinned fluorescent crystals) on Baryte

Item Description

A classic display piece from Mibladen featuring complex multi-crystal groups of sharp, "smoky"-colored, twinned Cerussite crystals measuring up to 2.1 cm, sitting atop "rosettes" of bladed Baryte crystals which range in color from white to a pleasing orange-red hue due to iron oxide coatings. The most interesting aspect of the piece in my opinion is the fact that the Cerussite fluoresces a notable yellow color under LW UV light. Most Cerussite does not fluoresce in my experience, and the specimens from this locality have a distinctive fluorescence that you don't normally see in the species. Mibladen is famous for its world-class Vanadinite specimens, but the Cerussites don't get enough credit for being some of the more interesting and unique examples of the species from any world locality. No major damage, only a few small imperfections. Valued $800.
