Item Description
A beautiful classic, V-shaped twin Cerussite from the small finds in the early 2000s at the far less well-known Christoph Mine of the Kaokoveld, Namibia. This locality is best known for its fantastic Dioptase crystals, and in my experience, good twinned Cerussites like this are quite difficult to find. The piece is translucent when backlit, and my favorite aspect is the secondary crystal that is flaring off of the upper edge of the twin to really give the piece three-dimensional character. The smoky crystal has the gentle waxy luster and resembles the classic V-twins from Morocco. Great quality all around, and this piece would make a great addition to any thumbnail suite or a collection of twins or secondary ore minerals. Priced at $900 in our inventory. This specimen comes from the renowned mineral dealer, Charles (Charlie) Locke Key (1935-2021). Charlie just passed in December of 2021, and he will be remembered among other things as arguably the most prolific mineral dealer of the second half of the 20th century. He's also one of the few people in history to have TWO mineral specimens named in his honor: Keyite and Ludlockite.
