Item Description

The famous Bunker Hill mine is a renowned lead-zinc-silver deposit which is probably best known for producing some of the finest specimens of Pyromorphite from the Western Hemisphere. This historic locale ran for a century (it finally closed for good in 1988) and now it's incredibly difficult to obtain fine quality specimens since it's been 30 years after the mine closed. One of the species often associated with Pyromorphite is Cerussite, but they're incredibly hard to find from Bunker Hill. This rarely seen Cerussite specimen features lustrous, well-formed, sharp, beautiful white "snowflake"-shaped twinned / reticulated crystals sitting atop Galena on a bit of matrix. There are a couple contacts, so the piece is not 100% pristine, but it's still in really good shape and looks great up close. If you've ever wanted a showy piece of this elusive material, be sure to jump on this one. Valued at $550. From the worldwide collection of noted Idaho collector Geary Murdock. Among other accomplishments, Geary was responsible for discovering some of the finest gem grade deep blue Aquamarine crystals in the Sawtooth Mountains of Idaho - which remain arguably the finest Aquamarines from any North American locality. https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/36634006/geary-jack-murdock
