Item Description

A classic full cabinet sized Cerussite specimen from the world famous Tsumeb Mine. The piece is features dozens of fine quality, sharp, lustrous, gemmy, white / colorless, "snowflake"-shaped reticulated / twinned Cerussite crystal groups measuring up to 1.3 cm long associated with smaller Cerussite crystals along with dark green pseudomorphs of Malachite replacing crystals of Galena measuring up to 1.7 cm across on matrix. If you look closely, you can see a slightly pinkish hue to some of the Cerussite groups, which I have to believe is due to inclusions of copper or a copper-bearing minerals (not unlike the Copper included Calcites from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan). The piece displays beautifully as you can see in the photos, but it's just as fun to view up close as all of the little Cerussite crystals are fine quality and beautifully well-formed. Of the literally hundreds of species found at Tsumeb, on of the all-time species is Cerussite and cabinet display pieces like this will always stand out as some of the finest examples ever found. The specimen is in great shape, but I can see a few small nicks on a handful of crystals. Priced at $4,500 in the inventory for the size, quality and the fact that Tsumeb specimens are among the hottest and most highly sought after minerals on the market today.
