Item Description

This is the first and only specimen of Cerussite that we've seen from the Marienschacht Mine (known as the Kuppel Mine prior to 1925). This mine is best known for producing the Stinkspat or Stink-Fluss specimens of nearly black colored Fluorite, but specimens of any species have been incredibly hard to find over the years. This piece features many fine quality, sharp, lustrous, translucent, pale golden colored crystals of Cerussite measuring up to 2.5 mm associated with massive dark purple Fluorite on host rock matrix. Upon close inspection, one can see that these little Cerussites are well-formed, fine quality and even show some slight GEM areas! If you collect German minerals, rare locality specimens or worldwide Cerussites, this might be your only opportunity to pick up a specimen from this locality, so do not miss out. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#3882). Kay was a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics. She nearly lived 100 years from April 1920 - March 2020.
