Cerussite (RARE locality specimen)

Item Description

Taouz is best known for producing distinctive Vanadinite specimens (often seen on dark Goethite/Hematite/Hollandite/Psilomelane matrix), but Cerussite specimens are RARE. This piece dates back to the 1980s, and is quite possibly the best example of the species that we've had to offer from the locality in the auctions. The piece features chatoyant, translucent, silvery/smoky colored prismatic crystals (some of which show reticulated twinning) cm sitting on contrasting dark oxidized matrix. The crystals show different forms, ranging from thin and tabular to blocky and stout. The piece is in good shape, though a few crystals are slightly rough in areas. Overall it's a rather impressive and showy display piece of a species that it not typically seen from most Moroccan localities. Valued $1,200 for the rare locality. Ex Brian Kosnar collection.
