Item Description

A very hard to find association specimen of featuring Cerussite on Galena from La Croix-aux-Mines in Vosges, France. Several sharp, well-formed, semi-lustrous, translucent, golden colored crystals of Cerussite measuring up to 5 mm sitting on octahedral Galena on host rock matrix. VERY little damage, and fun to view up close. It's very difficult to find ANY specimens of Cerussite on the market from any French locality, so this is a great piece to add to a secondary ore mineral collection or a French suite. The piece comes from Brian Lloyd of London, one of the preeminent European mineral dealers. Among other accomplishments, Brian was responsible for bringing the Sir Robert Ferguson collection to market, along with the Joseph Neeld collection (1789-1856) in 1974 and the historic gold collection of H.S. Gordon. Brian famously purchased the historic dealership formerly known as J.R. Gregory & Company - today known as Gregory, Bottley & Lloyd. The catalogue number on this specimen is 445.
