Item Description
Cerussite is a classic and desirable species from the ancient (12th century) Pb-Zn deposits at Stribro (Mies). This superb and sculpural combination is highlighted by the three dramatically set, stout, sharp, translucent, multi-hued brown, cyclically-twinned cerussite crystals with adamantine luster on the massive galena matrix. The impressive large crystal is 2.6 cm. Yellow fluorescence. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 1760 and acquired from Scott Williams at the Long Beach Show in July, 1960. Comes with three old labels, one from the Falkenhorst Collection. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). This exceptional old-timer (certainly over 100 years old) is illustrated in the Stribro (Mies) MINDAT photo gallery. The 1973 photo is by Rock Currier.
