Item Description

Cerussite is rarely seen from Berg Aukus, and good display specimens are virtually impossible to find. This piece is one of the most impressive specimens of this material that I've seen. Sharp, well-formed, translucent, slightly smoky colored, vitreous crystals of Cerussite measuring up to 7 mm are sitting on reddish-brown Descloizite crystals on matrix. The center of the specimen is in good shape, but the periphery is contacted where it was removed from the pocket wall. For anybody who collects minerals of Africa or specifically specimens from Berg Aukus, don't miss out on this hard to find specimen! This is certainly old material, dating back many decades. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#7498). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
