Item Description
Excellent cluster of well-formed, straw-colored Cerussites, with a hint of smokiness, from the famous Mibladen mining district. The Cerussites are quite complex, with one half being prismatic with complex, stepped faces, and the reverse side being remarkably flat. The luster is very good, the crystals are gemmy to translucent, and the whitish-yellow fluorescence adds even more to the specimen. The area is known for its Vanadinites, and the Cerussites are usually in combination with Baryte, but here they stand alone, and deservedly so. The largest Cerussite in this aesthetic, fine cluster is 3.2 cm, which is significant for the locality. Even better in person. Old material from the 1960s or early 1970s. This was recently deaccessed from the extensive collection of Bob Reynolds, who cherished both minerals and fossils as he collected. Bob is a prolific author and has had several curating positions in museums.
