Item Description
Here we have an excellent reticulated twin of Cerussite from Tiger, one of the premier mineral localities in Arizona for crystallized secondary ore minerals. Considering the Mammoth-Saint Anthony Mine closed in 1943, it's nearly impossible to find ANY pieces from this locality on the market today, but a piece of this size and quality is significant. This piece is a classic reticulated group of Cerussite crystals with "snowflake"-like formations comprising sharp, lustrous, "smoky" colored blades with a bit of attached matrix. It's important to mentioned that this locality has produced some of the best twinned Cerussites in the United States. The size and overall aesthetics make this piece really stand out from other "boring" pieces from this locality. There are a few contacts here and there, but it would be virtually impossible to get your hands on a completely pristine Cerussite from Tiger in this size range. An EXCELLENT old classic of this beloved and highly sought after material. Valued at $2,500-$3,500 retail for the size, quality and historic significance. From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds who passed in August of 2020. Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
