Item Description

This hefty cerussite cluster is a really unusual form of Tsumeb cerussite, with thick, robust crystals. One, 4.5 cm across, seems to be a very complete cyclic twin where the normally separated edges have "puffed up" and grown together so it looks like a 5-sided and weird single crystal at first glance. The secondary crystal, a little smaller, shows more usual twinning form. They are a weird ghostly white color, not the usual off white or beige color, and the piece is somehow beautiful despite being...strange, for lack of a better word. It is complete all around, and in unusually good condition in that regard given size and weight (500 grams, over a pound!). From the important Tsumeb collection of Dr. Art Soregaroli of Vancouver, this was valued $1500-2500. It would probably be of 1960s or 1970s vintage.
