Item Description
Some of the finest specimen of crystallized Cerussite are those from the prolific Tsumeb Mine. These superb and frankly visually stunning Cerussites are beloved for their fantastic size, quality and crystallization. There are few places in the world that can compete with Tsumeb Cerussites both in quantity and quality. This piece features a wonderful, very sharp, lustrous, gemmy, slightly smoky colored, classic reticulated twinned "snowflake"-esque crystal group of Cerussite measuring 3.3 cm, along with smaller crystals of Cerussite, aesthetically sitting on matrix. The piece is in good condition, but it is contacted in a few spots, so it's not completely undamaged. Still a showy old time specimen from the world's most famous locality dating back at least 50 years. Retail value on this piece is $3,000. From the collection of Kurt Hefendehl (#128 T), a well-known German collector all over Europe with worldwide contacts to dealers and collectors. He started collecting seriously at the age of 14 and his great and varied worldwide collection reached over 6000 pieces. He was very active mineralogically until shortly before his passing in 2020 at the age of 82. Considering his collection had a large number of pieces, it still had an unusually high standard of quality from most worldwide localities. He particularly specialized in all classics as well as minerals of the Black Forest, where he spent much time collecting. His Black Forest and German subcollections went to his good friend Wolfgang Wendel. We at The Arkenstone have the privilege of offering the remainder of this great worldwide collection over the next two to three years through our various platforms.
