Item Description

Mineral specimens from the well-known Tynagh Mine of Ireland are very seldom on the market. Much of the production from the open pit lead, zinc and copper mine was oxidized ore, but very few specimens were collected and saved before the mine closed in 1982. The very showy and rich specimen features a mounded, jackstraw, jumble of shimmering, pearlescent, cerussite blades to about 2.0 cm on matrix. These resemble cerussites from the famous Flux Mine of Arizona, but are much more sturdy. Very choice material for the species and locale. Ex Howard Belsky Collection. Howard started as a mineral dealer at age 13 in 1972, became a sophisticated dealer and died tragically at age 28 in 1987. His collection recently became available to us through his family.
