Cerussite and Baryte on Galena

Sitting on a solid plate of crystalline Galena, this Cerussite/Baryte combination from Mibladen is one of those specimens that instantly says 'Morocco' from old finds as far back as the 1960s. Honey-colored and gemmy, the Cerussites have a good, adamantine luster that causes the crystals to glisten. The modified habits have some twinning, which is always a serious bonus for the species. The first generation of these Cerussites averages around 6 mm in size, with the large, later crystal measuring a full 2.5 cm. All have an excellent, bright, golden-yellow fluorescence. The intergrown clusters of salmon-colored, bladed Barytes are classic for Mibladen, and the contrasts in form and color show exactly why these Cerussite/Baryte combinations are so well-known among collectors. With such pleasant aesthetics, it is easy to see why these interesting association pieces have been much-appreciated for decades. Note the low collection number here...she bought it many decades ago!
