Item Description
A classic display specimen of these well-known Celestines featuring several fine, sharp, lustrous, translucent white/colorless prismatic crystals of Celestine measuring up to 3.6 cm, accented by a little bit of light yellow Sulfur from the famous Floristella Mine in Sicily. The piece is in great condition, with no major damage I can find, outside of the base of the specimen where it was removed from the pocket wall. I love the individual separation between the crystals, many from this locality can be kind of "jumbled", so this one has character and great visual appeal.
From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds who passed in August of 2020. Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
