Celestine with Sulfur & Aragonite (old classic)

Showy, rich and unexpected mounded combination small cabinet from the historic sulfur mines near Agrigento, Sicily, Italy. Sparkly, translucent, raised aggregates of tiny, glassy, white Celestine crystals with chisel terminations richly coat the 360-degree specimen. The pristine front shows faint hints of underlying or included yellow Sulfur. LW UV light reveals a SURPRISE of pastel-pink Aragonite underlying the Celestine clusters on the front. The out-of-sight attachment on the back exposes the white aragonite, that is surrounded by classic canary-yellow Sulfur. The attachment on the bottom reveals the matrix core, adding more character. The water-stained label is from an old East Coast collection. A very showy, classic, old-time and surprising combination from Agrigento.
