Item Description
These rarely seen specimens came out in the 1980s, and to the best of my knowledge, no more have come out. This piece is a nice hefty geode that is loaded with translucent/gemmy, soft silvery colored crystals of Celestine measuring up to 3.4 cm, associated with white sparkling drusy Quartz. The periphery of the piece is obviously contacted, but the crystals in the center are in excellent shape with only a little roughness. A cool piece for any fan of this type of material. From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds. Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011. The piece is accompanied by a label from noted collector Al McGuinness.
