Item Description
This is a striking cabinet specimen of lustrous, translucent, Celestine blades with chisel-like sharp terminations from an uncommon locality in Tunisia. This attractive piece is composed of a plethora of thin and broad Celestine blades that have a heavy dusting of starkly contrasting, bright red Hematite. It almost looks as if the Celestine crystals were airbrushed with red Hematite resulting in a very aesthetic and artistic piece. The effect is dramatic and incredibly attractive. This piece was part of a find collected in 1998 by Dan Weinrich and Don Edwards from a giant walk-in vug. These were initially misidentified as Baryte, but a subsequent analysis showed the crystals to be fairly pure Celestine. This is a large and beautiful specimen, and they seldom turn up to market today.
