Item Description

Artistic celestine from this well-known open pite Polish sulfur mine. Glassy, sharp, tan calcite rhombs are aesthetically scattered on the front of the very sculptural diverging pair of celestine crystals. The glassy, translucent celestines are quite blocky (rhombic shaped) and have interesting nubby pinacoidal (flat) terminations. The bit of sulfur on one side is a typical accessory. White fluorescene to the celestine and calcite. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 10655 and acquired at the Tucson Show in 1985 from the Melsanson's. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). A very elegant celestine thumbnail from the locale.
