Item Description
Lustrous, translucent medium-blue celestine prisms, to 2.8 cm, are dramatically scattered among a myriad of glassy dogtooth calcite crystals on all sides of this sculptural, strikingly vuggy seam in thin-bedded limestone from this well-known New York roadside locale. Outstanding specimens were collected up to the mid-1960s and again in the 1980s. The locality is now closed and is said to be aggressively enforced by local law enforcement agencies (MINDAT). A very fine example from the locale.
