Item Description

Pretty steel-blue terminations on the sculptural cluster of translucent orthorhombic celestine crystals with satin luster faces from the well-known Bull Creek locality near Austin. The prominent upright crystal is 2.6 cm and the adjacent flat-lying crystal is 3.0 cm long. The cluster is aesthetically set on the spare limestone matrix covered with small mostly colorless celestines. The cleaved tip to the upright crystal is a minimal detraction. Texas is known as mostly a mineral wasteland, but this is a highly representative and very showy example from the locale. Celestine and minerals from the mercury deposits at Terlingua are some of the few species that Texas has produced in excellent crystallized examples. From a 2020 find.
