Celestine (rare locality gem) (ex Jim Houran Collection)

Celestine is known from hundreds of localities in the world, but I think VERY few people think of Kansas as a locality for the species. This stone is labeled as only coming from Russel County, as there is no specific locality where the material is found. The specimens of Celestine are found where rivers cut through the Cretaceous and Permian rock. This stone is the classic soft blue color that most people associated with Celestine. It has a wonderful "Square Cushion" cut and is only very slightly included. This is as obscure as it gets for Celestine in terms of the locality, so if you collect stones from unusual locales, do not let this one get away, as you may never see another like on the market.
