Celestine (rare bi-color)

Impressive and rare bi-color celestine crystal from the Maybee Quarry, a Michigan and USA classic locale. The prism faces of the stout, very glassy and lustrous, tabular, parallel-growth crystal are RARE, water-clear olive-green. The textbook chisel termination and jagged edges are the usual blue-gray for the species and locality. Cross-hatching in the prism faces adds much character. The edges and back face are a little rough from contacting, but there is actually limited bruising. Certainly a minimal detraction. Back lighting highlights the gemminess and olive-green color. Ex Robert Nowakowski Collection No. 39, a well-known Midwestern USA collector with one of the most important Michigan collections in our time by the late 1990s and early 2000s.
