Striking isolated clusters of sharp, very glassy, translucent celestine crystals with textbook chisel terminations are aesthetically set on the typical sulfur matrx. This is a very showy and rich 360-degree small cabinet from the historic mines at Agrigento. The crystals reach 2.8 cm on this excellent classic combination. In this case, the piece is REALLY balanced and beautiful, with good edges that are interesting and geometric - whereas so many are simply a jumbly mess with no edges. Ex Bill Panczner Collection and acquired in the 1960s to 1980s. Bill was the first Curator of Earth Science at the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum in 1974 and the author of the 1987 book Minerals of Mexico. It is the most thorough summary of the subject.
