Celestine on Sphalerite

Item Description

A very rarely seen matrix specimen of Celestine on Sphalerite from Clay Center. This material is often only seen as loose crystals of Celestine off matrix, or small crystals of Celestine which are secondary to another species like Calcite or Fluorite. White, gemmy/translucent, prismatic, lustrous crystals of Celestine measuring up to 2.6 cm are sitting on reddish-brown Sphalerite matrix. A nice overall reference piece of this material from the quarry that produced some of the most interesting and attractive Fluorites from the United States.
