Item Description

Celestine is uncommon from the famous fluorite mines of Hardin County. The majority of specimens came from the famous Annabel Lee Mine. BUT, isolated sharp crystals are RARE from any mine. This aesthetic, rare and sculptural large combination features striking, isolated, sharp, gem-like, colorless, orthorhombic celestine crystals, to 1.0 cm, richly scattered on nubby fluorite-coated matrix and on the dramatically placed rich purple, lustrous, moderately translucent fluorite cubes with frosted faces. The cubes reach 2.4 cm and a few scattered tiny gem rubyjack sphalerites are a super accent. Periphery wear and modest bruising to the the fluorites are noted, but are certainly only modest detractions to this very fine and showy large combination rarity from the Ross Lillie Collection # 1433. Ross' handwritten note on the label states: "Rarely seen isolated celestite xls on fluorite xls." The piece displays well from either direction.
