Celestine on Calcite (Kay Robertson Coll.)

Item Description

An uncommonly rich, showy and excellent celestine and calcite combination from this well-known limestone quarry. Sharp, gemmy, pretty blue, terminated celestine blades, to about 1.0 cm, are festooned on the blocky limestone matrix covered on three sides with glassy, colorless dogtooth calcite crystals. Ex Kay Robertson # 13056 and acquired from the Scott Williams Collection. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
