Item Description

Bone-white translucent to glassy celestine crystals are richly and attractively clustered atop the unusual multi-generational calcite matrix on this showy and excellent small cabinet combination from this well-known extinct Ohio quarry, noted for celestine specimens. The celestine prisms reach 1.5 cm and some are doubly terminated. The celestines rest atop a large euhedral calcite rhombohedron with two generations of smaller calcite rhomb overgrowth. Fascinating. A bit of bruising on one edge to some celestine crystals is certainly only a modest detraction. White celestine and pastel-yellow calcite fluorescence. Ex Chet Lemanski Collection No. 01014 and acquired in 1985. A fine and uncommon combination example from the locale, found just in a brief window of time as they went through this deposit.
