Celestine (large floater specimen) (rare locality) (ex Raul Orellana Collection)

Item Description

I've only seen a handful of these pieces from Arneva in the Valencian Community of Spain. This particular specimen by far the largest specimen that I've had to offer, and it is excellent quality to boot. The piece is a a full 15 cm long and features excellent sharp, lustrous, translucent, pale golden-yellow colored prismatic crystals free of matrix. The crystal group is actually doubly-terminated, and upon close inspection, I can't find any real damage or a point of contact, so this is a complete "floater"! A bit of attached pocket clay can be seen here and there, but nothing that would indicate any damage. I believe the crystal group was found loose in the pocket clay, with no matrix or additional crystals around it. There is a gentle internal translucency when the piece is backlit, and the surface of the crystals has a lovely almost pearly luster. This particular specimen was mined in February of 2003.
