Item Description

Here we have rarely seen specimen of Celestine from the Billie Mine in Inyo Co., California featuring fine, sharp, lustrous, well-formed, gemmy, white/colorless orthorhombic crystals measuring up to 2.7 cm, associated with minor Colemanite. I found a listing from Bob Griffis on mindat.org that stated these specimens were found in single pocket in 1981 by mine geologist Dana Prevost. It's the only specimen from this find that we've ever had to offer, and if you're a fan of minerals from borate localities, or if you collect California minerals, this is a MUST HAVE piece to add to your collection. From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds. Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
