Item Description

A beautiful and excellent display specimen of the lesser-known examples of Celestine from Beineu-Kyr in Turkmenistan. These specimens came out in the 1990s, and to the best of my knowledge, were never mined again. This particular piece is incredibly showy with fine quality, sharp, lustrous, gemmy, soft blue colored prismatic "sword"-shaped crystals measuring up to 3.1 cm, flaring out in multiple directions, sitting on minor matrix. There are a few broken crystals, but the majority of them are in great shape. This is certainly one of the most eye-catching examples we've seen from the locality, highly displayable and with plenty of free-standing crystals. What really makes this one stand out is the fact that most pieces from this locality have a reddish-brown hue underneath the Celestine crystals (Hematite), but this one only has a tiny bit of that reddish-brown color, so you really get the full impact of the Celestines. You'd be hard-pressed to find another like this on the market, so if you're a fan of Celestine or rare locality specimens, don't pass this one up. Valued $1,000.
From the collection of Kurt Hefendehl (#638 Ru), a well-known German collector all over Europe with worldwide contacts to dealers and collectors. He started collecting seriously at the age of 14 and his great and varied worldwide collection reached over 6000 pieces. He was very active mineralogically until shortly before his passing in 2020 at the age of 82. Considering his collection had a large number of pieces, it still had an unusually high standard of quality from most worldwide localities. He particularly specialized in all classics as well as minerals of the Black Forest, where he spent much time collecting. His Black Forest and German subcollections went to his good friend Wolfgang Wendel. We at The Arkenstone have the privilege of offering the remainder of this great worldwide collection over the next two to three years through our various platforms.
