Item Description
Sharp, porcelaineous, bone-white celestine crystals are attractively mounded on this matrix plate. The dominating large hexagonal crystal is 2.5 x 2.0 cm. A rare and outstanding celestine from this less well-known quarry from the Robert Nowakowski Collection # 221 and was collected in July, 2010. Valued at $400. Mineral specimens of ANY type are very rare from this small aggregate quarry, which is very near to the famous and abandoned Stoneco Lime City Quarry, famous for excellent celestine, strontianite and fluorite specimens that look similar to this opne. The quarries have similar geology so it is not surprising there might be celestine next door, as well (and Bob was a local collector I trust on the locality on his label).
