Item Description

A striking starburst cluster of gemmy/translucent honey-amber tapered celestine prisms from the Machow Mine. The impressive large crystal is 4.9 cm. The transparent, near colorless tips and traces of powdery yellow sulfur add character and contrast. Ex Bob Reynolds Collection, a well-known fossil and mineral expert and Curator of the San Bernardino County Museum. He passed away in 2020. See the 1992 Mineralogical Record article in Vol. 23, No. 1. The piece displays beautifully with the lucite prop attached at the back. Discrete celestine crystals of this gemmy quality are very uncommon and desirable from this famous sulfur mine. The photos pretty much speak for themselves -it is an exquisite specimen.
