Item Description

Striking cockscomb clusters of glassy, lustrous, translucent, cream-colored celestine blades, to 2.0 cm and small gemmy sharp sulfur crystals are very aesthetically set on stacked mounded clusters of amber, lustrous and translucent aragonite crystals. The aragonite mounds reach about 3.0 cm tall. The striking large triangular plate has a very 3-dimensional, artistic aspect. The interior is pristine and the noted periphery wear is certainly only a modest detraction. This classic and excellent old-time large combination is from the famous historic sulfur mines of Agrigento, Sicily. Ghostly white aragonite fluorescence. Ex Richard Rossi Collection.
